I “met” Chris Castle online through singer/songwriter Jeff Black, and I had the chance to meet Chris this past Tuesday when he came through town on the Drenched Earth tour. He stopped in to WDVX radio, and performed a few songs for the daily noon live broadcast, The Blue Plate Special.
During the Drenched Earth Tour, he’s got a band touring with him, the Womack Family Band, a four piece group. But they’re so good they’ll get their own post.
Chris is one of the most laid back people you could ever meet, he’s a gentleman, a kind, soft spoken man, a rarity these days. He’s a musician’s musician, his guitar playing is crisp and clean, he’s a guy that takes pride in the craft of making music. His music is wonderful, it has meaning behind it, it tells a story, and it’s presented with honesty. It’s genuine, from the heart music, and that makes it refreshing to listen to.
I had the chance to hang out with them all for a while after the show, and I’m bummed I couldn’t hang out for a few more, I like the guy, he’s cool. The following day, they did a live show at Knoxivi, a local streaming internet TV station in Knoxville, and I headed downtown again to spend more time with him and the band. You can catch this show here- scroll under the current video until you see Episode 263- Chris Castle and the Womack Family Band.

We hung out for a little bit after the show, but they had to hit the road for the show that night in Johnson City, so we said our goodbyes. I believe they’re coming back this way next year, in March I believe, and look forward to seeing him again. Hit his web site, listen to his music, and order his CD, you’ll soon be a fan.
